September 4, 2020
Beginning Tuesday, September 8 the City of Plantation will start much needed maintenance and repair work on Pool #2 (back, west pool). During this time the Plantation Swim Team will need to slightly modify our training group times and structure in the afternoon. The changes will include adjustments to Age Group 2 and Age Group 1 practice times. Sectional & Senior groups and Junior Piranhas will not be affected.
- Sectional & Senior will train Monday - Friday from 6am-8am; Saturday from 8am - 9:30am
- Junior Piranhas will train Monday - Friday from 3:30pm-4:15pm
- Age Group 2 will train Monday - Friday from 4:25pm-5:25pm
- Age Group 1 will train Monday - Friday from 5:35pm-6:35pm; Saturday from 8am - 9:30am
This will be a slight adjustment from our current practice schedule, but it will ensure that the lifeguard staff has enough time to properly sanitize the pool deck and high touch areas between swim groups.
We will continue to follow USA Swimming’s and CDC social distancing guidelines for our practices. The Aquatic Management team has approved us to use 10 lanes for our afternoon practices. With the County’s restriction on group sizes for youth activities, the maximum number of swimmers we can have during a practice is 30. This means there may be times, when necessary, that the swimmers will be 3 per lane. We have included the USA Swimming Social Distance Guidelines to give you an idea of what this will look like in the pool. If needed, 2 swimmers will begin on one side of the pool, with a 3rd swimmer beginning on the opposite side. When we need to move to 3 swimmers per lane, siblings will be the first choice used for the 2-swimmer side.
We also will be adjusting our entry and exit of the pool deck procedures. Swimmers will continue to enter through the large gate. Please do NOT enter the pool deck until the previous group has exited the facility. All groups will exit using the small gate next to the lifeguard office. Before your training group starts, we will need our athletes to line up outside the large gate 6 feet apart and have a CDC approved facial covering on.
Our main goal is to continue to safely get our swimmers in the water and practicing. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
