I hope the beginning of the school year is going well and those learning from home are adjusting to the new school model. Many have reached out about the start of swimming with the opening of indoor facilities by the governor. The Dexter pools have re-opened for the high school teams and began swimming again on Wednesday.
I have had phone calls and emails with Community Education on when we will be able to get back to swimming. The good news is that things look positive in getting back into the pool within the next week or so. We have been asked to allow high school sports to figure out their schedules and give them a little space to get going. A meeting has been set up to make sure Buildings and Grounds are sanitizing the pools correctly between uses.
That being said we are excited to get this thing going again and we thank those who had some fun with us outside this summer session. When we start up practice will not look the same as we left off in March. We will be limiting the number of swimmers per lane and most likely breaking the practices into groups so that everyone gets specific practice days. This will just be at the beginning as we look to keep everyone safe and slowly work everyone back into the swing of things.
We will probably schedule some virtual meets so we can simulate some competitions and work our way back to some kind of real meets. We have a good plan to get everyone safely back into the pool and look for that registration material as we get the green light from Dexter Community Schools.
