Senior Josh Cobia verbally commits to LSU

CTA Senior Josh Cobia has verbally committed to Louisiana State University beginning in the Fall of 2022.

Josh has been swimming for a very long time since he was a young boy with Para, and then joined CTA.  Over the course of his time with CTA (and he still has more time to go) has broken many team records in the 11-12, 13-14, and Senior age groups.  He has attended Southeasterns multiple times since he was just an age grouper, and has won events at that meet many times since age 12.  He has been picked to be on the Southeastern Zone team and have been able to experience that meet.  Josh has also qualified in the past for Short Course Junior Nationals and did compete at that level.  Over the course of his USA Swimming path, he has achieved some Top 10 USA Swimming times for his age group which is quite an accomplishment in age group swimming.  Finally, Josh has attended High School State numerous times and reached the medal podium on many occasions.

On a fun note there was an occasion where Josh challenged his coach to a video game (Galaga) during  a Senior training trip in Colorado Springs (the Olympic Training Center).  Little did he know that his coach fed that same game many quarters back in the 80's!!!  It was this decison that made him a much better butterflyer than he previously was (600 Fly for times will have a tendancy to do that).

We all are happy for Josh, and wish him the best when he begins at LSU in 2022.  Until then, we will continue to enjoy watching him grow as a swimmer and a person.
