October 4, 2020
We would like to officially announce our first Time Trial Event of the season! We will be offering two dates to choose from for this meet Saturday, October 17th OR Saturday, October 24th. (You will only attend ONE, not both) The deadline to register for these events are the Wednesday before, Wednesday the 14th for the first date, and Wednesday the 21st for the second.
Each of these dates will then be split into two sessions, one for our swimmers ages 10 and younger, and one for ages 11 and older. The 10 and under session will run from 2-4PM, and the 11 and older session will run from 4:15-6PM. We ask that families aim to arrive 30 minutes to an hour before their session to allow time to settle in and prepare for the meet.
We will be hosting all families in the parking lot directly behind the Y, and there will be room on the lawn for families to spread out, if the weather is warm enough. Swimmers will enter the building through the back doors on the Family Pool deck. We ask that ONE family member accompany onto the pool deck and act as the timer for their swimmer, recording their time and writing it down before leaving with their swimmer back out the Family pool. Families will be asked to provide their own stopwatch, or use the one on their phones to record times; we will have a limited number of backup watches for families to use, which will have to be sanitized between uses which may slow down the meet.
We are planning on streaming the event for the family members who are not able to be on deck, on our private Facebook group. We are also trying to have an FM transmitter available for our announcer to use so families will be able to hear the events being called from the comfort of their cars. Please plan on bringing warm clothes for your swimmers to wear to and from their events, and it would likely be a good idea to have more than one towel for them to use over the course of the meet.
If you have participated in our swim meets in the past, you know that we rely largely on the help of our volunteers! Due to limited space on deck this season, volunteer roles have been greatly reduced in number. If you have taken experience in a certified position, such as Computer Worker, Referee, Starter, or Strokes & Turns, and are willing to help, please contact Coach Liam for more information! Due to limited space in the pool, warm-ups now require a reservation to attend. To sign-up for a warm-up slot, you will click the “Job Signup” button on the home-page next to the event, directly beside the button to declare for the event.
The Timeslots for warm-ups are as follows:
10 & Under
1:00-1:10 PM or 1:15-1:25PM
11 & Up
3:30-3:40 or 3:45-3:55
