Stingrays News Update - week of 10/11/20

Happy Sunday, Stingrays!

We’re so happy to see so many swimmers back in the water! And we’re super thankful that we’ve had some really beautiful weather to help us out while the YMCA pool is getting repaired!

First, don’t forget that the Team Store closes TONIGHT. It can be found here and includes team suits, parkas, team sweats, awesome team t-shirts, knit caps and more! Our team suits, sweats and parkas are all the same year-to-year, so this isn’t an expense you would need to incur every season. We also understand that you may want to wait until we have a firm meet schedule to get your team suits…we do intend on opening the store again later in the season.

If you have a team suit (Arena brand) that no longer fits your swimmer, we will be orchestrating a swap/sale through our Facebook page soon! What Facebook page, you ask? Why…the FFYS Boosters Facebook page, which is found here, or search "FFYS Booosters" on Facebook! Please be sure to like/follow us!

We have two really amazing announcements this week!

First, our own Amy Pan was awarded the USA Swimming Scholastic All American Award!! This means that Amy achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 while also qualifying for the Winter Junior Nationals Championship! In fact, Amy has maintained a GPA of 4.0 and finished 9th in the finals of the 50 freestyle at Winter Junior Nationals! Congratulations, Amy!!!

Now for the first installment of our Stingray Swimmer of the Week Award! To make things just a little more exciting this season, we will have EXCLUSIVE themed rubber ducks each week! This week’s duckies came straight out of the corn maze to go home with five amazing swimmers this week!

Miniray – Hadley Rembisz

Bronze – Emily Saum

Silver – Varun Kongara

Gold – Alex Moga

Senior – Leah Gray

Congratulations to all for their great efforts and attitudes all week long! Keep it up! We’ll have another EXCLUSIVE rubber duckie theme next week!

This Week in the Pool:

All of our groups are getting accustomed to our practice protocols , and we hope to be in a nice groove by next week. We will start updating you as far as the specific things that each group will be focusing upon during practice!

Keep making great decisions outside of the pool so that we can continue to have a great season! Have a wonderful week, Stingrays!
