GCSTO's SwimGym Is Now Open To The Public Competitive Swimming Community
For years now GCSTO's Level 5 swimmers used a unique combination of dry land "swimming" exercises combined with their in-water training. We are scheduled to start back in the water on November 1 for the entire team and are currently operating a pure swimming oriented dryland program to team members called our SwimGym out of Power In Motion in north Gahanna and CORE 44 Fitness - Wyandotte in Whitehall. See our SwimGym page on this web site for more information on this program.
In short, conditioning and training will be achieved through creative "Swim" training on dry land. Start, turn, finish, pull-out, stroke & kick technique improvement all will be the focus of this program. Practices are written to mimic that which our athletes do during in-water training sessions with staff members there to improve the fundamentals of the athletes in each of these areas. Other topics such as race strategy, pace work, breathing patterns and all are also covered during these sessions. Mirrors, videos, individual demonstrations and more will be used for visual bio-feedback during training sessions.

3 - People have asked if this is the start of the swim season for us and if their participation in SwimGym is a guaranteed lock on getting a space once we start up on Nov. 1 in the water. The answer is "yes"... we have officially started the season so those enrolled in SwimGym are guaranteed spots on Nov. 1 above anyone else who wants to start up on that date in the water. This is as much a part of our season as is our water training thus the reason for this.
