Weekly Update 10/19/2020

I hope everyone got out the past weekend and enjoyed Saturday because yesterday it got chilly. It is definately getting to be fall and getting cold. Please make sure that the kids have some warm clothes to put on after they get out of the water after practice and SHOES. Swim parkas are perfect- but a warm robe and or a pair of PJ pants and hoodie works well as well.

We are working seeing if we can move the check in process inside- but awaiting approvals.

We do have approval to start adding three additional practices to the schedule starting next week  (the week of (October 25th) for the Dolphins group. This should help those Elementary age swimmers whom have gone back to in-person school and are having a hard time getting to practice on time. These practices will be on Tuesday, Thursday, from 6:00-7:15 and Friday from 5:00-6:15). Dolphins will have the option of doing either the practices that they are currently doing- or these new times.

Last week, the kids did their first set of test sets in dolphins and sharks. If they did not tell you about them, I am sure they would love to. Test tests are a bit grueling... a test in endurance. We use them a few points during the season to gage just how much the kids have improved. I am working on putting them into a chart and then I will hand it out, but it won't really matter until we repeat the test set in about a month to see how much they have improved from their first time through.

Lastly, I just want to thank everyone for being so wonderful. This has been a challenging year and honestly all of the families have been great dealing with all of the challenges that we have had so far. As many of you know, my husband works in public health, and the numbers are just creeping up in the area and I appreciate that we are being responsible here at the Y and cautious. I think the kids are having fun and still learning and keeping active. I want this to be a place where we can try to make things as normal as possible while still keeping this safe for them. I don't know if I always tell you guys how greatful I am to have such wonderful families to work with- but I wanted to make sure that I passed that along today!

Please let me know if you have any questions or issues and I will see you at the pool!
