Several people have asked when the bubble is going up. Coach Wes has been monitoring the weather, and there have consistently been warm days in the forecast. For instance, highs next week are forecasted to be in the upper 70s/lower 80s, which is too warm to be inside a bubble.
Our plan this year is to delay putting up the bubble until it is absolutely necessary, because there are going to be some logistical issues balancing the physical restrictions of the bubble with the social distancing requirements of keeping our pool open. Many South GA teams practice outdoors, without a bubble, year-round, so we know this delay is reasonable.
In the meantime, we assure you swimmers are warm in the water. We are using our thermal blankets every night, and our heater is doing a great job of maintaining a steady pool temperature of around 82 degrees. Please be sure your swimmers have parkas/robes/sweats, etc to wear before entering and after exiting the water. Extra towels will also be helpful in keeping your swimmers as warm as possible out of the water.
Thank you for understanding. We will let you know when we set a date for putting up the bubble, and will ask for volunteers to help. Thank you to those of you who have already offered your assistance in advance.
