Blaze Winter Season Update

Blaze Families:

Last night at the JCSD School Board meeting, the board approved the continuation of the temporary waiver to continue online learning. Assuming this waiver is approved by the Iowa Dept of Ed, sports and activities will continue to not be allowed. This online learning waiver period will remain in effect through Sunday, Dec. 27.

For our Blaze swimmers, this means that our next opportunity to resume the Winter season will be Monday, Jan. 4. The school board is tentatively scheduled to meet again on Monday, Dec. 28 to determine the Return to Learn model for Jan. 4. The board's decision on Dec. 28 will determine whether or not we are allowed to resume practices on Jan. 4.

Assuming we are able to resume Blaze practices on Jan. 4, our swimmers will have missed a significant number of practices.

  • Age Group 2-Day: 12 practices (12 hours) missed
  • Age Group 3-Day: 20 practices (20 hours) missed
  • Select 5-Day: 32 practices (48 hours) missed

I will be processing partial refunds for all Blaze swimmers to reflect these missed practices. See refund detail below:

  • Age Group 2-Day Refund Amount: $78 (Original Registration Fee: $139)
  • Age Group 3-Day Refund Amount: $125 (Original Registration Fee: $245)
  • Select 5-Day Refund Amount: $240 (Original Registration Fee: $450)

Refunds will be processed on Wednesday, Dec. 9. You will be able to log-in to your Team Unify account to verify that the refund has been processed. It may take a few days for the refund to actually show up on your credit card. (Swimmers that receive financial assistance or have opted for a payment plan will be refunded based on their actual amounts paid.)

If you would like to be removed from the Blaze Winter Season roster at this time and receive a full refund - please let me know as soon as possible.

If we are unable to resume the Winter season on Monday, Jan 4, we will make a decision at that time as to what the remainder of the Winter season could look like.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to navigate through these challenges. If you have any questions, please contact me, Scott Kruthoff, at 515-278-0552 or [email protected]
