It's been a quiet fall but the board met tonight and got a coach's update.
Time trials are ongoing with "fantastic results!"
For example, Shark Josh Kimiksana made three festival times this year. Congrats to Josh! Cubs will do time trials tomorrow. Saturday will be the Bronze and Silver time trials. "Lots of personal bests is what I saw," Carol says.
Next week, Dec. 14 and 16, kids will still go to the pool as usual, but with a bit of a celebration. Swimmers will stay in their cohorts (Covid rules) but will try to have a bit of fun as well. On Sunday, the Bronze and Silver swimmers will gather for gingerbread making at the multiplex. (Unfortunately, we couldn't find a way to get all the younger kids together as well.)
In January, Gold swimmers will resume Jan. 11. The rest will start Jan. 13.
We do not have as many ideas for fundraising this year. If you do have an idea, please get in touch with our fundraising coordinator, Angie Viloria: [email protected]
I went to buy a new cabinet for our downstairs storage room from Canadian Tire. Then I thought I'd ask owner Karen Butorac if she'd consider offering us a discount. She ended up donating the whole thing, at a value of $600. If that isn't great community service, I don't know what is. Please thank Canadian Tire next time you get the chance. Thanks also to Monte Kehler for picking it up and assembling it.
The board meets next on Jan. 14 and 7 p.m. Drop me a note if you'd like to join: [email protected]
