ACAC Makes Successful Travels to Nashville and Kingsport

Recently the Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) competed in two short course events – the 2020 Meet of Champs in Nashville, and the 2020 Kingsport Piranhas Holiday Challenge in Kingsport.  The meets rounded out what has been, with COVID, a unique and challenging calendar year for the sport of swimming.  However, the swimmers had fun, demonstrated the benefits of their hard work, and had some standout performances.   

Six swimmers made Southeastern cuts at the Meet of Champs.  Tais Brown (16) made seven cuts, winning the 200 Fly.  Abigail King (16) made five cuts and won the 50 Free, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly.  Grace LaCharite (16) made three cuts.  Camden Gerchar (15) made two cuts.  Ella Kendall also made two cuts. Also participating and putting in great performances were Keyara Colandro (15) and Jessica King (16).   

28 swimmers travelled to the Holiday Challenge.  Stephen Zhukov (14) made seven cuts and won the 500 Free, 200 Fly, and 200 IM.  Andrew Chou (14) made seven cuts and won the 100 Breast and 200 Breast.  Micah Brown (12) made seven Southeastern cuts and won the 100 Free and 200 Free. Tais Brown (16) made six cuts and won the 100 Fly and 200 Fly.  Kuba Shaw (13) made six cuts. Emily Zimmer (10) made five cuts and won the 200 IM.  Mason Greenhalgh (12) made three cuts and won the 50 Free and 50 Fly.  Sam Duby (10) made three cuts. Camden Gerchar made two cuts. Grace LaCharite (16) made the 500 Free cut. Karley Wolgram (13) made the 100 Breast cut. Colin Suddeth (14) made the 100 Breast cut.  Rosalee Wenhame (14) made the 400 IM cut. 

Race wins at this meet included three victories for Avery Fischer (8), two wins for Karol Shaw (11), and one victory for Benjamin Walls (15).

Over the holidays ACAC will be in the water with a reduced practice load in preparation for the second half of the short course season after the new year.
