To the USA Swimming Community,
As communicated last week,
USA Swimming must make numerous bylaw, rule, policy and operational
changes over the course of the next few months to remain in
compliance with the updated United States Olympic & Paralympic
Committee Bylaws and the updated Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur
Sports Act. The Governance Committee and its Working Groups will
spend the next few months deliberating and determining the best
path forward in regard to the reforms.
Many of these proposed
changes will require approval by the House of Delegates. Therefore,
in an effort to streamline and simplify the approval process by the
House, USA Swimming is planning to virtually host a special meeting
of the House of Delegates on June 30, 2021 pursuant to Article 6.2
of the Corporate Bylaws. This special meeting of the House will be
limited to compliance updates requiring HOD approval, and the
annual House of Delegates meeting will still take place in
September with a full agenda.
Additional information (and
the requisite Board resolution) will follow; however, please save
the date of June 30, 2021.
As always, if you have any
questions, comments or if you would like any additional information
please contact Kiki Laino, Director of Business Affairs, at [email protected].
