News from the Pool- Week of April 4

Did you know that less than 20 people on our team read this newsletter? (I can see who opens the email.) There’s a lot of info that is being missed by the other 160+ team members!  Be sure to read it each week and email me if you have any questions.

News from the Pool- Week of April 4

*The current session has been extended through Saturday, April 17.  All schedules remain the same through that date. We have regular practice over Spring Break (because everyone has a different spring break!)

NEXT SESSION (4/19-6/4) AND SUMMER PLANNING: I appreciate your patience as we wait on those who create the pool schedules to let us know their availability for our program.  I’ve learned that pandemic planning moves a LOT slower than we are used to.  As someone who normally plans an entire year in advance, this is a tough pill to swallow.  I am hopeful that we will have options for you by the end of the week.  Until then, our current practice days/times will remain the same until 4/17.

SUMMER LESSONS: We will be offering multiple programs this summer for those learning to swim, refining their strokes or swim team members looking for more practice.  Registration opens 4/1 for these programs.  Check out the offerings below under the “Swim Lesson” tab. These are different from swim TEAM (blue, yellow, Gold, JV, JV+, Prep, Varsity and Senior.)  The info below is for one-on-one swim LESSONS:

  • www.swimatsjsrc.com will offer Race Team and swim lessons for SJSRC members

  • www.swimsouthbay.org will offer Mobile Lessons (we come to YOUR pool), as well as lessons in the Endless Pool (weekday sessions and Saturday lessons available.)

UPCOMING DUAL MEET: We will be having another dual meet with Osprey at Willow Glen HS at the end of April.  RSVP on the site now.  Be sure to select events when you RSVP (3 each day.)  11-12 year olds have the choice to swim in the morning or afternoon session.  (Please do not select events in both sessions.)

PHOTOS PLEASE: Do you have any horizontal or vertical photos of your swimmers at practice or meets for the BAY archives?  The horizontal photos are for the team website and the vertical photos are for our walks down memory lane each Wednesday on our team Instagram account. Thank you in advance (and enjoy reminiscing!)

ADDITIONAL SWIM TIMES: Saturday Time Trials and Sunday Lap Swim are open for registration through the “ events” page of the website (be sure to log into the site first!) These are great ways to get more pool time, work with coaches and connect with friends.

WELLNESS CHECK (if the answer is YES to any of these, they should NOT come to the pool)

Have you felt feverish?

Do you have a cough?

Do you have a sore throat?

Have you been experiencing difficulty breathing or a shortness of breath?

Do you have muscle aches?

Have you had a new or unusual headache (e.g., not related to caffeine, diet, or hunger, not related to a history of migraines, clusters, or tension, not typical to the individual)?

Have you noticed a new loss of taste or loss of smell?

Have you been experiencing chills?

Do you have any gastrointestinal concerns (e.g., abdominal, pain, vomiting, diarrhea)?

Is anyone in your household displaying any symptoms of COVID-19?

To the best of your knowledge, have you or anyone in your household come into close contact (15 minutes of exposure within a 24 hour period) with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?

POOL PROCEDURES: check here (especially important for NEW team members)

  • If they have a temperature OR any symptoms, do not send them to the pool and immediately email [email protected]

  • If any swimmer, family member or coach comes in contact with a person who tests positive for Covid-19 or becomes ill themselves, it is imperative that you contact me immediately, so we can begin the contact tracing protocol.
