SOBA's Danny Gonzalez Selected to USLA Youth National Team-World Championships

Congratulations to SOBA Team Captain Danny Gonzalez! Danny is one of only 12 youth athletes selected from the United States to represent the United States Life Saving Association Youth National Team at the World Livesaving Championships Adelaide Australia this November. WOW! Congratulations to Danny!

More information can be found in the attached press release from the USLA.

Danny and his sister, Sally, were part of the Los Angeles County Surf Lifesaving Association team that competed in the USLA National Lifeguard Championships in Virginia Beach, VA (attached photo)

Earlier in 2018, Danny applied to and was selected to the Los Angeles County Lifeguard’s first ever Surf Racing Team (SRT) program. A quote from an article in the Easy Reader:
"The SRT program was implemented to provide an opportunity for highly motivated young men and women to continue participating in the Junior Lifeguard Program with a smaller time commitment,” LA County Lifeguard Captain Tom Seth said. “The JG Program loses members in the older ranks for a number of reasons including athletic and academic commitments. The secondary goal is to train future Lifeguards in the watermanship skills they will need when patrolling LA County Beaches"

Danny joined SOBA when he was just 7 years old; and Sally joined when she was only 6. I am very proud of these two, and all of their accomplishments. Danny and team have already begun more intense training to prepare for this big event (on top of his high school water polo season, school and much more). Can’t wait to hear about the World Lifesaving Championships!
