The entire Marin Pirates community would like to congratulate Cokie Lepinski on being named the 2010 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year!
The criteria for the Pacific Master's Coach of the Year committee award includes team and individual participation in competitions, team size and growth, club vigor, hosting events and service by the Coach to Pacific Masters, USMS and their local community as well as outstanding professional contributions to the sport.
Although Cokie is relatively new to the Pacific Masters pool deck, she has hit it out of the ballpark in all of these areas and continues to raise the bar.
The Pirate Masters team has more than doubled in size during the last year and her swimmers participation and performance at meets continues to grow from season to season. At her practices, she recognizes her swimmers’ accomplishments both in and out of the water. She also recognizes their birthdays, monthly attendance and for her new swimmers their 100th workout is rewarded with a gift from the team. You can find her insightful articles in the USMS Swimmer Magazine, in the Streamlines e-mailing to swimmers and coaches and on the Pacific and USMS websites. She has also hosted numerous clinics in her community. In addition to serving her team, she has also taken on the role of Coaches Chair for Pacific Masters.
Just as important as her innovations and contributions are the ways her swimmers’ describe her:
“She has an innate ability to read her student at any time throughout a workout. This cannot be taught, it’s simply a gift that some possess.”
“She is special and important to each of us and is a constant source of inspiration.”
“Her deck demeanor is friendly and low key and welcoming and the team reflects that attitude. I have never been part of a more caring and fun group.”
“Her enthusiasm seems boundless. Cokie shows great dedication to her team, her community, and to the sport of Swimming, proving her to be a true asset to Masters swimming.”
