Desert Thunder Finishes strong at Senior State meet

 Sunday night, amidst slight Thunder and rain, the senior swimmers held onto their strong performances to finish the event.

Cory Basselen swam to an eighth place in her 50 breaststroke in her final individual event. Cory was the team's overall individual high point scorer for the meet. Teammates Lexie Lezcano and Lindsey Hartman improved their 50 breast times to place 18th and 22nd respectively.

Lexie did a quick turn around to compete in the women's 50 freestyle placing 24th. Brother Alec Lezcano followed in the next event competing in his first final in a senior state meet and swam to a 15th place, confirming his sectional cut from the morning.

Drew Barlow swam to a 24th place in the men's 200 fly. Abhishek Rajadas confirmed his sectional standard from the morning and finished 13th in the men's 100 back. Elena Burr rounded out the individual swims and went another best time to finish 21st in the women's 200 IM.

Concluding the night and the meet was the 400 medley relays. The team of Lexie, Cory, Elena and Lindsey went their entry time and jumped spots to finish 14th inside the points. The men's team of Abhishek, Justin Dawson, Drew and Alec dropped big time in their relay and also jumped up spots to place 16th garnering the team's final points for the meet.

Overall, the seniors swam to well over 80% best times, jumping huge spots in ranks throughout the meet. Five swimmers made it back for their first ever senior long course state meet final swims.

Great job to all the seniors who competed in the meet! Job well done!
