BBST swimmers compete in Mexico at the North American Challenge Cup

PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO - BBST sent 3 swimmers to compete in the North American Challenge Cup (NACC) swim meet in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, this weekend, August 4-6, 2011.  Representing BBST and Pacific Northwest Swimming are: Cole Avery, Taylor Shewchuk, and Gus Evans.  The NACC meet will feature All-Star 'Select' teams from California, Washington, Mexico, and Canada.  BBST swimmers Austin Fish and Katie Kaestner were also invited to attend, but have chosen not to go (Katie will be attending USA Swimming Junior Nationals in Palo Alto, CA).

Day 1 Prelims: Cole Avery 8th seed going into finals in the 100m fly (1:0162), Taylor Shewchuk 2:48.11 in the 200m Mujer Pecho (breaststroke) and 5th seed going into finals, and Gus Evans 2:34.92 in the Hombres 200m Pecho (breaststroke) and 7th seed going into finals.  Great job making finals and good luck tonight, BBST swimmers!

Day 1 Finals: Cole Avery 100m fly - 8th place (1:01.49), Taylor Shewchuk 200 breast - 7th (2:48.93), and Gus Evans 200 breast - 6th (2:31.96...best time by 2 seconds).  Nice swims, kids!

Day 2 Finals: Cole Avery 200m back - 8th place (2:19.71), 200m fly - 6th place (2:14.39)...new team record for 13-14 boys and Open men.

Day 3 Finals: Cole Avery 100m breast - 10th place (1:14.67), 50m free - 7th (26.41), Gus Evans 100m breast - 5th place (1:10.24).
