As most of you already know, our team recently competed in the Summer Long Course Junior Olympics in Mission Viejo. There are three locations for this meet to accomodate the largest LSC in the country, Southern California Swimming, and the Mission Viejo location is by far the most competitive of the three. Here are the results of our 25 swimmers who competed:
Combined score of 11th place (boys: 12th; girls: 9th)
32 finals swims
8 Southern California Reportable Times (SCRT)
Highest places: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th
Stand Out Swims:
Lindsey Clark: 100 back in SCRT
Macy Sutter: huge drop in 400 IM to 5:26
Olivia Huebner finaled in her first ever JO’s in her 50 breast
Caitlin Espitia and Lauren Kearney also made finals in their first ever JO’s in the 100 breast
Solie Laughlin won her swim off in the 100 back and dropped several seconds with a 1:13.3
Taylor tied for 2nd place in her 50 fly with a SCRT of 31.4
Niles got SCRT’s in his 200 breast (2:42) and 400 IM (5:03) and made huge race strategy improvements in both.
Alicia Harrison received a SCRT in her 100 breast (1:26.2)
Josh Modglin dropped 3 sec in his 100 back
David Peterson broke the 2:10 barrier in his 200 free and raced like a man while doing it by nailing his turns and not breathing the last 10 meters of his race.
Brigid McNally got 2nd in her 1500 free with a SCRT by nearly 30 sec!
Congratulations to all those who competed in Summer JO's! And thanks again to all the parents who made this meet a success by being a fantastic support to the kids, the team and myself while I was coaching.
