Congratulations MSA on hosting a great swim meet and to our swimmers for putting on an exciting show! We have a great group of parents that always pull together and put on a fantastic event. Putting on a successful swim meet takes every one of you. Each job is vital to a meet’s success. The Thanksgiving Invitational Meet (TIM) was fully staffed with several people requesting to fill-in where emerging support was needed. Thank you.
While I am extremely thankful for the work that each of you put into the TIM, I would like to thank a few of you by name. I have to start with our committee chairs, Cheryl Kreitz and Michele Cheatham. They have served in Hospitality and Concessions for two straight years and have done a magnificent job. They plan, shop, beg for donations, haul, setup, cleanup, and handle every emergency that comes their way. This year Cheryl was very happy to have April Black as her assistant and she certainly helped make the job more manageable. We could not even host a meet without a Meet Referee and John Fellows served again this year. John is a superb meet official. He is extremely organized, knowledgeable, even-keeled, and an asset to the club. Kudos and best wishes to Aihua Wang. She is “retiring” and officiated at all 5 sessions even though her son graduated earlier this year and is no longer an MSA swimmer. I certainly have to recognize our Head Scoring Table Staff, Tina Gilbert, Debbie O’Malley, Euros Davies, and Simon King. They worked the entire meet insuring that each race result was properly recorded. Our Meet Entry Chairman, Mike Burrows, doesn’t even have a swimmer on the MSA club this year yet works hours behind the scenes to get the required meet files online and to the league officials. I have to recognize Henrietta King, as well. She is the MSA Treasurer so she handles all of the meet financials, but she also works every session and handles everything else, drop/add, supplies, stopwatches, etc. I bet I said “Have you asked Henrietta?” to about two dozen questions asked to me this weekend. Yulie Palenapa coordinates Apparel for MSA and handled all awards for the meet. Many of you helped with setup and teardown, but I have to recognize the Setup Chairmen, Cookie Biddlecombe and Matt Benzek. If it needs to be done they will do it and they will do it well. Also, this year I had an Assistant Meet Director, Chris Taylor. Chris was always ready and willing to do any task no matter how big or small, thanks.
Last but certainly not least, I want to thank our super coaching staff. We are blessed to have such a wonderfully knowledgeable, caring, and experienced group of coaches. You are shaping our children in the pool and out. Thanks for being such valued role models. Your tireless work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated; you are valued more than you know. Thanks especially to Coach Pam for leading this great, dynamic coaching staff.
