COACHES CONTINUING EDUCATION
Our Manta Ray coaches, however, will be hard at work continuing their swimming coach education today and tomorrow. The City of Mason has brought in Guy Edson from the American Swimming Coaches Association to teach our coaches the latest in age group (6-14) swimming technique and training. The two courses they are taking include:
ASCA Level 2 – The Stroke School. This course is designed to make coaches aware of world-class strokes today, and more importantly teach them to construct strokes in practice. That’s the primary thing that parents bring their children to you to learn: how to swim better. This is the beginning of your education about strokes. ASCA provides Advanced Courses in each stroke, both live and in manuals.
How to write workouts: If you are analytical, if you are goal-oriented, and if you like to run structured workouts, (or even if you want to be more analytical, organized, goal-oriented, and run structured workouts) then this guide will be a helpful tool for you to use in designing workouts. The guiding principle of the system proposed in this guide is that everything you do in a daily workout is related to an overall larger goal. 71 pages in a loose leaf binder including 12 blank forms. Written by Guy Edson who is an ASCA Level 5 Age Group Coach and currently coaches a novice and age group swim team.
