Eleven Swimmers Post Lifetime Bests at Senior Meet

Eleven Pre-Senior and Senior Team swimmers turned in lifetime best times at the Southern California Swimming Senior Meet this past weekend. Our swimmers earned many second swims and swam great races in the Finals sessions. Lifetime bests are noted below. Complete results from the meet can be viewed here.

Gian Berino led the Consolation Final of the Men's 500 Freestyle and had a very tight race to the finish. He took second in the heat for 12th place overall with lifetime best 4:43.83. Blake Faris and Nathan Diaz battled it out on the other side of the pool in the same heat. Blake touched out his teammate to take 14th place and Nathan finished in 15th with a lifetime best 4:48.15. Earlier in the session Blake swam a lifetime best in the Men's 100 Freestyle (49.65). Sean Kao had a huge drop in the 200 Freestyle, breaking the 1:50 barrier for the first time in his individual race in the Preliminaries (1:49.65) and leading off one of the 800 Freestyle Relays in Finals with a lifetime best 1:47.58. Blake also swam a best time in the 200 Freestyle touching in 1:46.63. On the final day, Paul Li turned in a lifetime best in the 100 Butterfly (54.45) and two swimmers swam best times in the 1,000 Freestyle, Gian (9:50.60 for 5th place) and Blake (9:52.60 for 7th place).
On the Women's side, Kendall Lyng led the way with a lifetime best in the first session of the meet. Her time of 5:11.33 in the 500 Freestyle earned her a spot in the Bonus Final and she moved up two places in the evening to take 27th place overall. Amanda Lundstedt posted a lifetime best 2:12.67 in the Bonus Final of the 200 Butterfly. Mandy Schatz swam a best time in the 50 Freestyle (25.64) and repeated her time in the Finals for a 25th place finish overall. Gwendolyn Walter posted a lifetime best in the 200 Freestyle Preliminaries and dropped another half second in the evening's Finals. Her time of 1:56.86 earned 17th place overall. Isabella Kearns led off the 800 Freestyle Relay in 1:58.38, a lifetime best by more than two seconds. On the final day, Diana Monobe dropped over three seconds in the 100 Backstroke for a lifetime best 1:00.71.
