Greetings Aquacowboy Famlies! Hope this week finds you well and enjoying the February sunshine. We are coming off a great Zone 2 Championships meet and have a lot of awesome events on the horizon.
Here is a quote for the week:

We will be holding an intersquad meet with the college format before travelling to Palo Alto to watch the Cal vs Stanford Men’s Dual meet at Avery Aquatics Center. No cost for entry, address 235 Sam MacDonald Mall, Palo Alto 94305. This is a great team building opportunity. Carpooling is encouraged and part of the fun for the kids!

PLS Senior Meet March 3rd: Saturday only for 13 and over swimmers only. There will be Saturday AM practice from 8-10 for all Jr 2 and Pre Senior swimmers who do not go to the meet.
Montclair Pentathlon March 11th: This is a great meet for all 14&un swimmers. Be sure to sign up ASAP
Here are some highlights from the groups Coach Lisa works with:
January swimmers of the month: Katie (novice) Sofia (jr2/pre sr)
Novice - After a swimmers dive, the TURN is the next fastest part of a race. We have had a great week of working on our turns! It's great to see even our Summer League swimmers who will only race 25's learning advanced skill of all the strokes turns. Good job Sashee, Sarah Y., and Faith! Upcoming events: Let's watch some of the fastest swimmers at the Cal vs. Stanford men's swim meet! February 18, at Stanford 1-4pm. The next meet is the Montclair Pentathlon, March 11. Please sign up for all events.
Junior 2/Pre Senior - We started off the week being somewhat adrift in our workouts. But by the end of the week it was great to see the group come together with more focus. Megan W. had a great set this week, Brianna continues to help lead the group, and at the end of practice Brandon swam a Far Western time in the 200 breast and Celine swam a Junior Olympic time in the 200 breast! Upcoming events: Let's watch some of the fastest swimmers at the Cal vs. Stanford men's swim meet! February 18, at Stanford 1-4pm. The next meet is the Montclair Pentathlon, March 11. Please sign up for all events.
Here are some highlights from the groups I work with:
January swimmers of the month: Franco(Junior 1), Nina(Senior)
Junior 1 group: We had a great Zone 2 meet with Franco leading the way with almost all best times including a 16 second drop in the 200 free. Jacqueline, Amanda, Minh-nha and Megan also had great performances including new A times for Megan and Jacqueline. We have been working on our freestyle and backstroke turns as well as increasing our kicking capacity while swimming longer distances. I am looking forward to seeing some great swims at the Montclair Pentathlon as well as having many of the Junior 1 swimmers attend the dual meet at Stanford.
Senior Group: Practices have been great the past two weeks with some stellar performances and pace and speed days. Andrew, Katie, Nina, Shahini, Alex G., Jenna, Josh, Haley and Alex W. were all able to consistently hold under 400 IM pace on Monday/ Tuesday practices and Nina had one of her best speed sets ever swimming 12’s for 25’s of back and 26’s for 50’s of fly. Trent and Haley did their best ever 125’s of free. We are working on taking care of ourselves, sleeping well, supporting our teammates, and continuing to grow in all four strokes. The Laurie Lawrence of Australia stories are challenging our swimmers to see things from a new perspective and to build on their strengths.
Thank you all Aquacowboy Families for the awesome love and support you show your kids. It is truly an honor to be a part of such a dedicated group of parents and children. Have a great week!
