WCAB C/B/A+ meet highlights!

WCAB C/B/A+ February 18-19, 2012

Accompanied by unseasonably gorgeous weather, we had some great swims
over President’s Day weekend at Heather Farms! Led by the “young
guns,” EBAT had 55 best times at this meet. Lindsay Brown dropped
time in the 50 free, 50 fly and 25 free, in which she earned a new “A”
time. Alisha Zen added to the mighty munchkins’ haul, earning two new
“A” times in the 25 and 50 free, as well as swimming personal bests in
the 25 breast, 25 fly and 50 fly (also a new “B” time).

Next, in chronological order, come the 9-10 girls, who performed
fabulously! Monica Gong was on fire, swimming best times in all 8
events she swam. But wait, there’s more! Of those 8 swims, 4 were
new JO cuts and her 200 free time of 2:27.42 was a new EBAT record and
only .03 seconds off the Far Western standard. Not to be outdone,
Cynthia Le swam with a vengeance, adding seven personal bests to her
stash and getting the proverbial monkey off her back after being DQed
in the same event at Zone Champs, with a fantastic 100 IM swim that
earned her a new JO cut.

The group of 11-12 year olds was our largest contingent at the meet.
Kyle Tran had 5 PRs, earning a new “B” time in the 100 FR and was less
than one second away from a new “A” time in his 200 IM. Raissa Ly
excelled in the one lone event she swam, getting a best time in the
200 IM. Tudor Muresan bested his times in three swims, earning a “B”
time in the 50 back. Nicole Bagdadlian dropped time in the 100 free,
50 back, 100 breast, and 50 free, earning a new “B” time in the later.
Lydia Deng had two personal bests, and showed improvement in all
strokes with a new “A” time in the 200 IM.

And to round out the 11-12 swims, Aris Jernigan lowered her personal
bests in five events, including racing to a photo finish in the 200
free where she dropped almost a second off her time at Zone Champs.
Last, but not least, Myles Williams recovered from a mixed bag of
swims on Saturday to earn best times in everything he swam on Sunday
(conveniently, to avoid swimming the 200 fly).

Newton Tran, RC Zen and Samir Hossainy all showed they were in great
shape and ready for high school season with strong races. RC had five
best times in a variety of events, with the highlight of his meet
being the 50 free. And as the lone 13-14 year old, Minh Ly dropped
time in his 200 IM.
