Team SVY:

We are looking for 20 SVY swimmers, ages 13 and up, to volunteer to help out at the Special Olympics of NJ swimming Sectionals on April 29th at Seton Hall University. Volunteers will be placed in a variety of positions that include: timing, recording, assisting the athletes in the staging area, escorting athletes to their lanes, greeting athletes at the end of their swim, or assisting during the award ceremony. Check in for the event is 8:00 a.m and it will run until approximately 1 p.m.

For those who do not know, Special Olympics is a non-profit organization that gives children and adults with intellectual disabilities the chance to compete in a variety of athletic events, including swimming. The philosophy of Special Olympics is “founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports, adapted as necessary to meet the needs of those with special mental and physical limitations”.

If you are interested in participating, or have any questions, please feel free to contact Amy Mosca at the email address below. If you are ready to commit, please print and complete the registration form, making sure that swimmers under the age of 18 have a parent signature. Completed forms can be placed in the SONJ folders at either BWT or Hillsborough, or mailed to me at:

23 Van Doren Way
Belle Mead, NJ 08502

Thank you for participating and helping the SONJ athletes achieve their goals.
