SPORTS NUTRITION FOR ATHLETES SEMINAR
Are your nutrition demands for training and racing being met? Whether you are a triathlete, distance runner, or someone who just demands more from your body during your normal daily activities, plan to attend a free sports nutrition seminar that may help answer this and other nutrition related questions.
A Sports Nutrition for Endurance Athletes seminar will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, in the Senior Center at Mason Community Center. Ryan Smith, an Exercise Physiologist and owner of Personal Impact, LLC, will talk about the physiology and science behind nutrition for endurance athletes. Learn why 75 to 85% of endurance athletes have GI distress during their event. Find out what to eat and use for fuel during training and leading up to a major event, and learn about race day nutrition. Concepts behind hydration and dehydration, sports drinks, gels, and cubes will also be discussed. Throw out all the “marketing hype” and learn how all those chemicals affect your body.
Ryan Smith has both a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky. He is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine, USA Track & Field, Newton Running, Spencer Institute as a Food Psychology Coach, and Functional Movement Systems as a FMS Professional. Working in the fitness industry since 1989, he has continued to educate and develop a unique combination of skills that are sought after as a trainer and for speaking engagements. His company, Personal Impact LLC, is a wellness, nutrition, and fitness consulting business based in Florence, Ky. He currently serves as Vice President of the Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati.
This free seminar is sponsored by MOJO Tri-Club and Live Well in Mason.
