FAY, Thomas (Tom) Francis Born into this life on December 30, 1941. Graduated into eternal life on May 29, 2012. Tom was a swimming coach, writer, magazine editor, and a sports psychology consultant during a long and distinguished career. Coach Fay often told his friends and family that "I've had a wonderful life, full of miracles." "Miracle" That he found two wonderful women in his life who loved him. They were his first wife, Cindy Phillips Fay, who passed in 1998 and his current wife, Sherri Ann Fay. "Miracle" His three birth daughters: Kelly Elizabeth Fay (Paul), Courtenay Fay Shouse (Aaron) and Kathryn Ryan Fay (Jeremy); his three stepchildren, Mandy King Linthicum (Chris), Jennifer Marie Morrison (Alan) and Andrew Paul King. He was so proud of them all. "Miracle" That he got to see and love a generation of grandchildren: Mckenzie Rae Harper, Jordan Elizabeth King, Brooke Allison Shouse, Hunter Alan Morrison and Kyndall Aryn Shouse. "Miracle" His love of books and reading, which taught him so much and his hundreds of swimmers that taught him so much more. "Miracle" That he found Dr. John T. Lee, M.D. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who kept him alive, and two priceless friends, Skip Bowie and Tony Trumphour, who brought much joy to his life. "Miracle" Tom was a member of Joy Church International in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. His shepherd was Pastor Jim Frease, who spoke to his heart and loved his soul. Coach Fay touched so many young people's lives, but he would be the first to say he was the one enriched and blessed. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31st from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee. A Memorial service will also be held at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home on Friday, June 1st at 2 p.m., with Pastor Rob Simms officiating. Graveside service will be Saturday, June 2nd at 1 p.m., at Jennings Chapel Cemetery in Northport, Alabama. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Tim Arendale, Todd Arendale, Tripp Summerlin and Tanner Summerlin, friend Tony Trumphour, and step-son, Andrew King. Donations to Alive Hospice in Tom's memory are appreciated. No small children and animals were injured during the making of this life.
