Great Meet! LAC Swimmers are required to Wear Team Suit and Cap

Thanks everyone for a great meet on Thursday night!  I was our first time having swimmer "coaches"  mentor younger swimmers and it was great to see the Senior swimmers connecting with younger swimmers and encouraging them.  The team with the highest percentage of best times seems to be the team led by Katie Kulp and Andrew Hayes, which reportedly had 100% best times.

We will have more specific highlights when we get the meet results in, but big swims were achieved by:

Chris G.-  New JO in 200 IM

Paige d. -  Dropped over 20 sec. in 500 free

Alex G.-  New F.W. in 100bk, New JO in 100fl

There were two parts about the meet which could have been much better:

#1.  Many people showed up late for the meet.  Warm ups started at 345, but several swimmers showed up well after, including some just before 430.  One of the goals for this meet was to have older swimmers connect with younger swimmers including helping them warm up and get ready for their races.  This didn't happen for some swimmers because they came late to the meet.

#2.  Many people did not wear LAC cap, LAC suit, or both.  This is a team rule in our team contract and it is not being followed by many swimmers.  When we look like a team, we act like a team, and we perform to a higher standard.  If your child does not have a team cap or suit, they need one to compete in the next meet.  Please make sure this happens.

Thanks again all swimmers, coaches and parents for the great job you did at the meet.  Remember, this afternoon we have a team wide clinic from 345-500 working on Starts and Turns.  Junior 2's/ Pre Seniors/ Seniors will have regular practice afterward.  Tomorrow morning there is practice for the Senior Group only in San Ramon from 645-900.
