Twelve Hollyburn Hurricanes compete in the Jess Deglau Invitational at UBC Outdoor Pool June 2nd – most placed top 8 or better!
Congratulations to our most recent competitors! We are mid - way through our long course season, and really heating the pools up with our talented swimmers. Kevin Calder, new to long course, placed first in his 10 & Under category for his 50m breast, while Jason Chow was unstoppable, placing top 3 for all of his events. More hardware was brought home by Aidan Smith, with a first place finish for his 10 & Under 100 free, and a 3rd for his 50 breast. April Barnes was no slouch either, bringing home a 3rd for her first time 200 fly long course swim in the 13-14 age category. James Maycher and Griffin Cassidy had an awesome swim meet, bettering all the events they swam, while Angus Robertson swam his personal best in 50 fly, and made a tremendous effort in his first time for long course 200 IM and 200 fly. Now there’s a guy with guts! Meanwhile, Chris Ruus and Kourosh Shahbazzi were doing a fine job, each swimming new events to them in the long course pool. Colby Evans and Marisa Ruus each bettered their times, while John Hollands and Carly Kagna put in solid performances over the weekend. We look forward to seeing more amazing swimming in the weeks to come!
WAY TO GO HURRICANES!
