MANTA RAYS HEAD TO OLYMPIC TRIALS

  USA Olympic Swimming Trials

FOUR MASON MANTA RAYS COMPETE AT U.S. OLYMPIC SWIMMING TRIALS

Four Manta Ray swimmers will compete against the best swimmers in the world this week at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha.  Follow along as the Manta Ray swimmers attempt to finish in the top two spots to quality for the US team swimming at the 2012 London Olympic Games.  The meet will be televised live each night on NBC from 8:00-9:00 p.m.

In order to "tryout" for the USA Olympic team, a swimmer must achieve a certain time standard for each event.  That standard is set very high and only about 1700 swimmers out of the 300,000 (0.3%) in USA Swimming achieve it.   Manta Rays and their events include:

Hannah Whiteley, 14, (Springboro) 100 meter backstroke on Tuesday, 6/26.

Stephen Koch, 19, (West Chester, OSU) 200 Breaststroke on Thursday 6/28.

Dani Barbiea, 18, (Springboro) 50 meter Free on Sunday, 7/1

Austin Caldwell, 19, (Loveland) 50 meter Free on Saturday, 6/30

The Mason Manta Rays is a City of Mason Parks and Recreation Department program and USA Swimming year-round swim team.
