Florida Sectionals - Day 4

We kicked off the meet yesterday with Adrien Hosking swimming the 800 Freestyle and the Women's and Men's 200 Medley Relays. Adrien has been sick so, unfortunately, he was a little off his best time in the 800 Freestle event but he is hoping to get stronger as the meet progresses.

The Women's 200 Medley relay placed 6th with fantastic times logged by each of our girls.  The team consisted of Kaitlin Harty - backstroke, Ivy Durepo - breaststroke, Taylor Strachan - butterfly, and Megan Brown - freestyle.  The Men's 200 Medley relay placed 13th and also had fast swims.  The men's team consisted of Ross Honig - backstroke, Ryan Harty - breaststroke, James Allen - butterfly, and Christian Alonte - freestyle.  Congratulations to both our teams for a great job!

The highlight of the evening for most of the swimmers (o.k. for the girls on our team) was being able to meet Ryan Lochte and Peter Vanderkaay.  I have attached pictures of some of the swimmers and Ryan Lochte.

Today, we had the 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly and the 400 IM.  Tonight we will have the 800 Freestyle relays in addition to those swimmers who made it back in their individual events.  Our swimmers who made it back to finals are:

Megan Brown - 4th -100 butterfly (scratched event for the evening), 3rd - 400 IM

Taylor Strachan - 11th - 100 butterfly (will swim in the 10th place due to Megan's scratch)

Emily Parillo - 2nd alternate - 100 butterfly, 26th - 400 IM

Ryan Harty - 13th - 400 IM

Ross Honig - 2nd alternate - 400 IM

On a special note, Megan Brown is very close to making an Olympic Trial time cut in the 400 IM.  As a result, she scratched out of the 100 butterfly for tonight to focus on that event.  She went a 4:58.54 this morning.  She needs a 4:55.89 for Trials.  She is swimming with two people who logged faster times than her this morning and one of them made Olympic Trials this morning so she has a VERY good shot at making that time tonight.  Watch the results and continue to send lots of good wishes to all of our swimmers!  Go GREENWOOD!!!
