This afternoon was spent working on the technical details of swims and doing drills.  Some of the swimmers were able to take these drills and have breakthroughs on their strokes.

In the evening, it POURED down rain.  I have included some great pictures of us in the rain.  The swimmers didn’t seem to mind it and, at first, Coach Lemieux and I enjoyed the relief from the hot temperatures.  The down side was that we ended up getting pretty wet because the wind picked up and started blowing it toward us.  It didn't stop practice though!

The swimmers of the day were Megan Brown, Ryan Harty and Kamryn Stecyk for having the top three times in the 600 freestyle.

Today is Ashley Hamel’s 16th birthday!  Happy Birthday Ashley!!!  For a present, she gets the privilege of doing triples again today!  Enjoy!

This afternoon was again spent doing technical drills.  In addition, Coach Lemieux discussed the importance of preparing for your race.  He talked about zoning out to your surroundings and focusing only on your lane and your race.  Not worrying about what other swimmers might or might not be doing.  Not waving to your parents or looking for your friends.  Just focusing on what you need to do to swim fast.

He then challenged several swimmers to step up and go lifetime best.  Megan Brown and Ryan Harty went lifetime best in their 100 freestyles.  John Harrington and Nikolai Syssoev went lifetime best in their 50 freestyles.  Bella Knight went a lifetime best in her 100 breaststroke.  After the afternoon session, Coach Lemieux announced that the swimmers of the day for tomorrow will be John Harrington, Bella Knight and Nikolai Syssoev.  Congratulations swimmers!
