It took a couple of days but everyone has settled into their routines.  The most interesting part is that all the different personalities of the swimmers are coming out.  Even our swimmers who are usually quiet have joined in and you can hear them joking around with each other.  For instance, I understand from a reliable source that Ray Trebicka actually has a very funny sense of humor and has been entertaining his roommates with some of his jokes.

The big question most of the swimmers have been answering for their parents has been, “What are you eating?”  Just to give you a sample of how well the kids are eating, here is what was on the menu today:

Breakfast buffet from the hotel – waffles with syrup or strawberry sauce, made to order omelets or eggs, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt, cold cereal, hot cereal, toast, English muffins, pastries, banana bread and a variety of muffins

Lunch – Baked Spaghetti, Chicken Piccata, mashed potatoes, green beans, Caesar salad and chocolate cake

Dinner – Meat Lasagna, Eggplant Parmesan, Caesar salad, bread sticks and cookies

Even our picky eaters are being adventurous, expanding their culinary appetites and finding that they actually enjoy what is being offered.

At the evening practice, we had several incredible swims and it was a tough choice for Coach Lemieux.  However, all the swimmers were excited when the swimmers of the day were finally announced.  Our swimmers of the day are Ashley Hamel for a lifetime best in her 200 breaststroke and Ray Trebicka for a lifetime best in his 200 butterfly.  So, they will be enjoying their rides back to the hotel on Sunday.  The only concern Ashley had was that it will probably be the quietest ride of the trip for Coach Lemieux.  Knowing Coach Lemieux, it won’t stay quiet long!
