Dolphins compete at Zone III Championship meet

    Ten Ukiah Dolphin swimmers traveled to the University of San Francisco , Koret Swim Center for the Zone III Championship meet. With a larger contingent than in recent years the Dolphins had many great performances competing with outstanding swimmers from around the Bay Area.

 Ten year old Emma Crawford, in her first Zone Championship meet swam the 50 back in a time of 42.83 seconds.

 Eleven year old Roe Klein swam the 50 back in 35.96 and the 100 back in 1:18.81, both times were significant improvements of his previous bests.

 In the 13-14 age group, Danny Selzer, 13, placed10th in the 50 free with a time of 24.77, swam the 100 free in 54.91, the 100 back in 1:05.01, and placed 8th in the 200 back with a time of 2:23.80 .

 Shelby Cleland, 16 swam the 100 free in a best time of 58.81, the 200 free in 2:07.91, placed 4th in the 500 free with a time of 5:40.97, and swam the 100 fly in 1:13.40.

 Matthew Campbell, 16 swam best times in the 50 free; 26.78, 100 breast; 1:14.05, and the 200 breast; 2:45.50.

 Joey Selzer, 16, swam the 50 free in 24.95, the 100 free in a best time of 55.05, the 200 free in a best time of 2:05.17 and the 200 IM in a time of 2:30.01.

 Jack Selzer, 15, swam the 50 free in’ a best time of 26.22, and the 100 free in 1:00.16.

 Marcus Ramirez, 15, placed 6th in the 50 free in 23.70, 10th in the 100 free in 52.48, 5th in the 100 butterfly in 57.22 and swam the 100 back in 1:02.57.

 The four 15-16 year old boys also swam four relays, with times of 1:42.90 in the 200 free relay, 3:50.50 for 10th place in the 400 free relay, 1:58.52 in the 200 medley relay and 4:20.76 in the 400 medley relay.

 In the 17-18 girls age group, Macaela Stenback placed 6th in the 50 free with a time of 31.44, 6th in the 200 free with a 2:33.87, 7th in the 200 back in a best time of 2:58.96. She also swam the 100 free in 1:09.15.

 Jillian Clark placed 4th in the 100 back in 1:1O.11 and 10th in the 100 free in 1:00.78. She also swam a best time of 1:15.50 in the 100 breast and did a 2:28.63 in the 200 IM.

 The Ukiah Dolphin Swim Club is a full-service program providing appropriate instruction and training for beginners through national level swimmers. Dolphin coaches are on deck at Ukiah High School from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each weekday evening.
