DCST National Results Day 4 – Launer Goes 4 for 4

            Emily Launer swam her fourth and final individual event of the National Championship Meet on Day 4, and for the fourth time this week she finished in the top 10.  She took 6th place in the Women’s 200 meter Backstroke with National All-American honors.  Moreover, her time from the preliminary session broke her previous team record by 0.9 seconds.  Launer earned another All-American honor along with Brittnie Dean, Kristin Van Oost and Caitlynn Moon who dropped a whopping 11.5 seconds in the Women’s 800 meter Freestyle Relay to take home a 17th place finish.  This was the first time Kristin has been named a National All-American.

            Daniel Hein had a big day by lowering both of his team records for boys ages 13 – 14 in the 200 meter Backstroke and 50 meter Butterfly.  In prelims, he went 2.9 seconds faster in the 200 meter Backstroke and 1.3 seconds faster in the 50 meter Butterfly.  In finals, for the Butterfly, he came up big with an additional 0.3 second time improvement.  Sharron Isola also had a big swim in the finals of the 50 meter Butterfly by going a personal best time and 0.3 seconds faster than her preliminary swim.  In the 200 meter Backstroke, Jack Fergus shattered his previous personal best time by an astonishing 7.5 seconds, while his sister Sarah also had an excellent swim which was 0.8 seconds faster than her personal best.

            For the meet so far, DCST has had 32 career best times out of a total of 41 swims, set 8 team records, and have had 5 swimmers earn National All-American honors in 9 events with one more day of competition remaining.
