Long Course LSC Championship Wrap-Up

Regional Championships - July 13-15

Junior Olympic Championships - July 19-22
The Manta Rays finished in fourth place at the Ohio Junior Olympic Championships matching their highest finish ever.  Hannah Whiteley broke the JO Meet Record in the 100 backstroke and set a new LSC and Meet Record in the 200 Backstroke.  Top three finishers at the meet for the Manta Rays were: Preston Bailey (50 Free-3rd), Adam Chaney (50 Back-2nd) (100 Back-3rd), Ansel Froass (50 BR-1st) (100 BR-1st), (100 Fly-3rd) (200 IM-2nd), Ashley Volpenhein (50 Free-1st), Hannah Whiteley (50 Free-2nd) (100 Free-3rd) (100 Back-1st) (200 Back-1st).  The 13-14 Girls 200 Medley Relay of Hannah Whiteley, Liz Monnin, Ashley Volpenhein, and Jordan Decker broke the LSC and Meet record with a winning time of 2:03.07.  The 13-14 Girls 400 Free Relay of Whiteley, Gabriella Marinelli, Volpenhein, and Decker broke the LSC record (from 1979) and the Meet Record with a time of 4:02.92.  The same four girls also broke a Meet Record in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:50.75.  The 400 Medley Relay of Whiteley, Monnin, Volpenhein, and Marinelli also won the 400 Medley Relay.  

Senior Championships - July 26-29
The Manta Rays finished the LSC Championship series with a first place team finish at the Ohio Senior Championships this past weekend at Kenyon College.  Manta Ray swimmers combined for 156 lifetime best swims at the meet.  The following Manta Rays finished in the Top 3 at the meet in at least one event: Austin Caldwell, Jared Kolwyck, Justin Kolwyck, Bryan McNamara, Alicia Moreno, John Raker, Steve Russo, and Hannah Whiteley.  The following relays finished in first place: Men’s 800 Free Relay of Justin Kolwyck, Jared Kolwyck, Bryan McNamara, and Austin Caldwell; Men’s 200 Free Relay of Brad Lebling, Eric Chen, Bryan McNamara, and Austin Caldwell; Men’s 400 Medley Relay of Austin Caldwell, Steve Russo, Justin Kolwyck, and Brad Lebling; Men’s 200 Medley relay of Austin Caldwell, Steve Russo, Justin Kolwyck, and Brad Lebling; and the Men’s 400 Free Relay of Brad Lebling, Bryan McNamara, Eric Chen, and Austin Caldwell.
