Pirates Finish 11th at CA/NV SectionalsÂ…Riley Scott Wins 200 Breast

The Marin Pirates finished 6th in the Medium Team Division and 11th overall at the CA/NV Gold Sectional held in Santa Clarita, CA July 25-29. The Pirates had 30 swimmers qualified for the meet.

The team was lead by Riley Scott who won the 200 meter breaststroke in a time of 2:34.86. Her time was over a second under the Olympic Trial cut.  In addition, Riley took 3rd in the 100 breast with a lifetime best of 1:12.29.

Also taking a 3rd place finish was Cali Raukar in the 100 back.  Her time of 1:05.18 qualifiers her for the National Swimming Championships in December.

The men were led by Kenneth Castro Abrams and Thomas Mercurio.  Thomas took a 3rd in the 200 breast (2:24.17) and 13 in the 100 breast (1:06.74).  Kenneth took 7th in the 200 fly (2:07.47), 14th in the 200 free (1:57.2), 22 in the 400 free (4:09.02), 20th in the 100 back (1:00.65) and 22 in the 100 fly (57.46).

The men’s 400 medley relay (Castro Abrams, Mercurio, Davison, Noguchi) took 3rd place with a time of 3:556.04
