Marin Pirate Swimmers Sweep Pacific Swimming Scholarship Awards

Four Marin Pirates won the Boy's and Girl's Wally Frank and Peter Ruona Scholarships. The awards are given yearly in honor of two long time volunteer officials in Pacific Swimming's Zone 3.

Girl's Peter Ruona winner: Emily Trautner
Boy's Peter Ruona winner: Matt Herman

Girl's Wally Frank winner: Nadia Bess
Boy's Wally Frank winner: Wes Bochner

The Peter Ruona awards have been given since 1973 and the Wally Frank awards since 1992. The awards are given to Zone 3 swimmers based on grade point average, community service, swimming ability and an essay.

Trautner and Herman are the 12th and 13th Pirates to have won the Ruona awards. Bess and Bochner are the 8th and 9th to have won the Frank awards.

This is the first year that swimmers on one team have swept all four awards.
