Buenaventura Swim Club
“Team Communication” – 11/21/12
Happy Thanksgiving! There will be no practice on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. There will, however, be regularly scheduled practice on Wednesday and Friday. Keep up the great training in preparation of our big December swim meets!
Winter Age Group Champs (WAG’s) and Sectionals. These meets are proof of time meets, meaning, you must qualify in each individual event you enter. This is a big accomplishment for our Buena Swimmers who do make it to this stage of swimming. Remember, the deadline to enter WAG’s is Monday, November 26th, and the deadline to enter Sectionals is Monday, December 3rd. Don’t delay, enter today. Also, as a last ditch effort, you can still qualify for WAG’s at the upcoming Conejo Simi Swim Meet. If you do qualify in an event and wish to attend WAG’s, you must notify the admin desk and they will enter you immediately from the pool deck. You must be prepared to pay your entry fee at that time.
Armstrong Trophy Winners. The David Graham Swim Meet was a huge success on many levels. Most importantly, our swimmers continue to impress! Congratulations go out to our latest Armstrong Trophy Winners for their great efforts at the David Graham Swim Meet; Maisy Millage of the Gold Group, Aniket Rahane of the Silver Group, and Catherine McAnally of the Bronze Group get to take home the enormous trophy (in some cases bigger than they are) until the winners of the Conejo Simi Meet are awarded.
Goodbye to Coach Deidre. Coach Deidre has announced her resignation as she must focus her time and attention on her family and her other job/s. Obviously Coach Deidre will be missed and not easily replaced. Please help me by wishing her well and thanking her for her dedication to Buena over the past two and half years. In the meantime, we are considering various options for her replacement.

“Enjoy the City” Fundraiser. Team President Lety Ball is always busy finding ways raise money for our team. She has found a fundraiser that is dedicated solely to our goal of earning enough money to establish an office and storage space on site for the sole use of Buenaventura Swim Club and Ventura County Masters. The addition of an office will allow our club to operate more efficiently and more professionally. This is a very important endeavor for the team and we ask that everybody find a way to help by participating in this fundraiser. Lety herself will be in the round-a-bout in the parking lot today from 3:20-5:30pm, passing out the booklets on consignment. Please see Lety in the round-a-bout, or contact her directly for more information at email@example.com. Also, see attached “parent letter”.
New 2012-2013 Board of Directors Announced. We want to thank the members who came to the annual meeting last Thursday and those who helped us meet quorum (50% of eligible voting members) by signing a Proxy. We also thank the eight candidates and the nominated-from-the-floor candidate for your willingness to serve and who are now the club’s 2012-2013 Board of Directors (BOD). After the meeting the new board held the first meeting and selected the officers (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer) as required by the club’s by-laws.
Please welcome your 2012-2013 Board of Directors:
Edith (Lety) Ball – President
Laurie Kearney - Treasurer

Lastly, we thank our outgoing BOD member, Anne Kearns, who served as board member for several years.
