October Development Meet

35 Hollyburn Hurricanes did a fantastic job at our first PASS Meet!

Sunday, Oct. 14 was our 1st Pass meet of the year & the Hurricanes were on fire! 11 of our swimmers had not competed before – congratulations to Zack Harrison, Midori Holland, Andrew Horner, Evan Kelly, Spencer Krywulak, Annika Kuypers, Lucas Ouellette, Behbod Panahandeh, Chelsea Sipmson, Ella Wigmore & Curtis Woods. We are all very proud of you; your performances were awesome!

9 of our swimmers did the 200 IM, the most challenging event of the meet- it’s 50 m (2 lengths of the pool) of each stroke. It’s tough for distance, but also tough technically, as it has all possible variations of turns to do; for those reasons, it has a time standard. Once you can swim 200 IM under 4:00, you qualify to move on to the next level of swim meet. Our 9 swimmers were Corentin Caer, Jade Clement, Thomas Dignum, Abbey Heard, Jaclyn Holtby, Shona Kelly, Behbod Panahandeh, Grace Robertson and Gabe Ross-Wilson – WOW!

Two of our swimmers qualified for the LMR time standard: Jade Clement and Grace Robertson – Congratulations girls! There’s a lot of hard work behind those swims!

All of our swimmers both new and seasoned achieved best times at our meet and seemed to really enjoy the event. Thank you to the parent volunteers, our senior swimmer volunteers, Coach Carrie & Coach Al, all the parents who came out to watch and those who committed to bringing their swimmers to make our first Pass Meet a huge success!

WAY TO GO HURRICANES!
