Hello all LAC Families, below is a message from Coach Kevin. Please read his message to the team and the paragraphs following the message:
Dear LAC Families,
I wanted to write you all and give you a little update about some exciting news my family recently received. As many of you know, my wife is a professional and international soccer player. Just like many of your kids have big dreams about the future of their swimming, so does my wife, Jennifer, have about soccer. My wife has dreamed about playing in a top-tier professional soccer league ever since she was a little girl (even before one ever existed), and, amazingly, God has allowed this dream to come true.
This past week, we found out that my wife has been selected to play professionally with the Seattle Reign FC in the new National Women’s Soccer League. She will be playing on the same team as Hope Solo, Megan Rapino, and Amy Rodriguez of last years Olympic gold medal USWNT.
This is an extremely exciting time for our family, but at the same time, it does bring some sadness. Unfortunately, as you probably guessed, I will no longer be able to coach with LAC, and I will be leaving my coaching position with the club later this month, as my family prepares for our move to Seattle. LAC is an amazing club with amazing families, swimmers, and coaches, and I am very sad to be leaving you all. LAC holds a very special place in my heart, and I will always treasure the time I got to spend with all of you. As I leave, please know that I am so thankful for how you welcomed me in with open arms, and for all the support you have given me as a coach. Please feel free to keep in contact with me through email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you all again for everything!
I feel extremely grateful to have had Kevin on our staff. He is not only a quality coach; he is also a quality person and father. We wish Kevin, Jennifer, Paige and Levi a great journey north and lots of success with soccer and with life. Thank you Kevin for being a part of our team!
Beginning in February, Coach Leslie will take over for the Junior 2 group. Coach Leslie has had great success with the Varsity Group this season and has worked with the Junior 2 group many times as well. Leslie brings great energy and enthusiasm to her work. She advocates a disciplined pursuit of excellence in her groups and is continually learning about swimming and coaching from other coaches, online resources and books. We are excited to see what Coach Leslie will do with this great group of swimmers!
Beginning in February, Coach Theresa will be taking over the Novice 1 and Pre Comp groups five days a week. Coach Theresa has been working with LAC for two years now, but this will be her first five day a week assignment. She is an excellent teacher with a background teaching Middle School Science, and has developed great skills with teaching the fundamentals of the four swimming strokes. We are excited to see Coach Theresa on a more regular basis and to include her more and more in meets and in the competitive process!
Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for helping our team be great!
