Marin Pirates Swim to First Place in Washington!

The Marin Pirates Swim Team finished in first place in the 37thAnnual Washington Open held January 17-20 in Federal Way. The Pirates’ 34 teenage swimmers finished with 942 points over Denver Swim Academy (748 points), Boise YMCA (622 points), King Aquatics-Seattle (522 points) and California Capital Aquatics-Sacramento (492 points).

Highlights included the following:

Riley Scott 1st100 yard breast   1:02.69; 1st200 yard breast 2:16.61

New qualifiers for Junior Nationals in Orlando March 12-16:

Jon Farbman          50 yard free: 21.41 (4thplace); 100 free: 47.88 (8th)
Sophia DalPorto    100 yard fly: 57.0 (5th); 200 yard fly: 2:07.87 (8th)
Griffin Burke             500 yard free: 4:38.66 (5th)
Sean Haechler        100 yard fly 51.80 (14th)

The Pirates now have 11 swimmers qualified in individual events for Junior Nationals.
