DCST Drops Two at Oak Park

DCST Drops Two at Oak Park

DCST fell to 6 – 3 on the season in dual meets when it lost to both Oak Park and Leaning Tower (Niles, IL).  As a team, DCST swam a little better than the previous weekend, but was still a little off.  DCST had 63 career best times out of a total of 141 swims for a 45% improvement rate.  Five of these swims were a new event legally swum by a DCST swimmer for the first time in their career.

Twenty five swimmers had a great meet with at least two career best times. These swimmers were:  Joanna Burnham, Kylie Cork, Noah Dean, Mason Dukes, Quin Dukes, Anabelle Engleson, Morgan Fisers, Evan Harrelson, Georgia Harrelson, Jenna Hart, Theo Heilman, Ethan Heinrich, Tyler Hull, Abbie Johnson, Josephine McMahon, Michaela McMahon, Ana Flavia Michelini, Abby Oberg, Dane Pardridge, Emily Stark, Amanda Underwood, Calvin VanderSchee, Jared VanderSchee, Natalie Wagner and Tatum Wagner.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Kylie Cork, age 12, and Mason Dukes, age 10, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

Next weekend, DCST will be hosting its Winter Classic Meet.  At this meet, DCST will have more personal best times than at any other meet this season.  The DCST Coaching Staff has set a team goal of 600 career best times for next weekend.  Therefore, everyone needs to be ready to swim fast next weekend.
