Feb.3rd Development meet

The Development Swim Meet Hollyburn Hurricanes hosted on Feb. 3rd was a great meet for all swimmers. 31 Hurricanes participated; 20 of them made best times in every event they swam. Wow! Quincy Bender made her LMR qualifying time in the 200 IM - she swam it in 3:51.27, well under the 4 minute mark! Congratulations to Corentin Caer, Sidney Clement, Alex Haigh, Maggie and Molly Haugom, Shona Kelly and Eduardo Sutherland who also swam this very tough race. Four of our swimmers raced for us for the first time - Ruby Chen, Garrett O'Connor, Sandee Park and Sophie Smith! Welcome to competitive swimming! We hope you had a great time.

Most of our swimmers took off big chunks of time from their previous best times: Morgan Bender took off 13+ seconds in her 50s, Jacob Chisholm bettered his 25 brest by 14+ seconds ,Amanda Haigh blew 21+ seconds off her 50 breast, Spencer Krywulak took 6+ seconds off his 25 fly, Isabella Martin bettered her 100 IM by 10+ seconds, Gabe Ross-Wilson cut his 50s each by 4+ seconds, Kianna Shahbazi bettered her 25 free by 5+ seconds, Jay Shields improved his 50 breast by 9+ seconds, and Sophia Sutherland out swam her best 25 free by 7+ seconds, just to mention a few. Amazing results Hurricanes!

All of your coaches are so proud of how every swimmer preformed last Sunday - each race is a learning experience, each race tells a story of how well you've been training, how well you've been practicing your strokes, starts and turns. Each improvement can be measured in your improved times, stroke techniques and mental skills. Thank you to our Junior Coaches for helping organize the marshaling area and teaching our swimmers how to line up for their races. Thank you parents for those of you who helped in the timing and to Ian Robertson for being our starter! And thank you parents for bringing your swimmers to the meet - the experience helps solidify the drills and skills we practice every week!

  Way to go Hurricanes!
