What an awesome time of year! The championship season has officially begun. This weekend marks the kickoff of roughly 6 weeks worth of championship swimming for members of our club. Everyone from our youngest swimmers heading to their first "Silvers" meet to our high school fellas in their scholastic season and to our college athletes involved with the end of the year conference championships....the rewards of continued hard work has arrived. Delayed gratification at its finest!
Liverpool took back the team title in the Class A meet last night. Tons of personal best times were posted and a huge congrats goes out to Coaches Mike Ferrell, Brandon Genalo and Krista Furman. So many highlights to mention...so we'll stick with the winners: Nick Burdo (100 free, 100 back), Dan Hens (50 Free), and Garrett Clarke (100 Breast). Garrett's 56.91 in the 100 breast set a new Section III record, took Coach Scott Henry's LHS school record down, and is an automatic All-America time. The top 5 times posted at Thursday's meet in the 100 free were ALL Liverpool Jets swimmers! The fellas head to Hamilton College to continue swimming in the Section 3 State Qualifier Meet on Saturday. David Campbell finished 12th in the 500 (4:42) and swam fast enough this morning in prelims to come back seeded first in the 400 IM (4:03)!.
