Santa Clara Swim Club needs your support next Tuesday night

As many of you know the Santa Clara Swim Club’s International Swim Center is in urgent need of a major renovation. SCSC, in coordination with the Santa Clara Diving Club and the Aquamaids, is in the process of proposing a plan to the City of Santa Clara to remodel our facility. The proposal includes two 50 meter pools, a diving pool, a learn to swim pool, a community recreation pool and a complete overhaul of the locker rooms, weight room, and team areas. This project is long overdue and it is necessary for SCSC’s continued success. On Tuesday, February 26 at 7pm, the Santa Clara City Council will be reviewing our proposal and we need all swimmers and parents who can attend to join us at the meeting to show support for our club. A public outpouring by our aquatics community will be a critical consideration for the city council to support our historic project, therefore, your presence will be a key factor. All you need to do is attend!

When: Feb 26, 2013 at 7pm

Where: 1500 Warburton Ave. Follow the signs for the Council Chamber Building.

What to Wear: Please wear SCSC shirts, parkas, hats, etc. Please be tasteful in your attire.

How Long: Expect to be there for an hour.

What do you need to do: You will be expected to sit quietly in the audience. Athletes and parents will not be speaking out at this meeting; but your presence will speak volumes. You do not need to be a Santa Clara Resident to attend you just need to be a supporter of Santa Clara Swim Club.

If you have questions about this event, contact Jaime at

Volunteer Hours

Timing at Meets:  Thank you to all parents who sign up and time at meets.  We are all in this together and when you volunteer to time at your child's meet you are not only helping to run the meet, but you are also supporting swimming as a sport, SCSC and, of course, your swimmer.  Meets are nearly 100% run by volunteers and if parents don't time, the kids who work so hard in practice wouldn't be able to compete.  Thank You!

Save the date--upcoming events hosted at SCSC when you can earn volunteer hours:

Junior Olympics--March 15-17--signups coming soon!

Senior II Meet--April 14-15

CCS High School Champs--May 10-11

Senior II Walk On Meet--May 12

Santa Clara International Grand Prix--May 30-June 2 (all families must work a portion of their hours at this meet)

Board Meeting

There will be a board meeting Monday, Feb. 25th at 6:30pm in the rotunda.

Due to the lack of dry-land attendees for the Sr 2 5:45 session, there will no longer be anymore dry-land on T,Th @ 5:00-5:30.

Good luck to everyone swimming at the Race to JOs this weekend! Last chance, leave everything you have in the pool. Good job to all swimmers who swam at the Cabrillo meet in Santa Cruz, bunch of great swims along with some not so great swims. But the good news is we know what to do to get better before JO's. Don't panic.

Congrats to Rahul, Sean, and Tyler for earning their first Far Western Q! Keep working hard and stay focus.

Congratulations to Gold Girls Kaitlyn Leung  and Nicole Oliva on their best times at the Cabrillo SR II Santa Cruz meet. Also, it's time to sign up for JO's!

Yellow 1/2

Congratulations on a great weekend of swimming at the Race to JOs meets. It's now time to gear up and focus on the Championship season with JOs and Far Westerns coming soon.

- Please help your Yellow 1 swimmers learn ALL of their best times.

- Please do not distract or coach your swimmers during workout sessions and meets. If you have a concern, please address your child's coach and we will try to help. It's important to support your child, but leave the coaching to the professionals. We are here to help them. Thank you!!!
