St. Lucian brothers Runako and Jyasi Daniel race in US championships
Brothers Runako and Jyasi Daniel featured in overseas forays as St Lucian swimmers continue to impact in foreign competitions
Runako Daniel swam the 3rd leg of the Peddie School record breaking 4x100 yard relay last weekend at the Easterns Championships with a super fast 45.59 seconds. This first place relay time was 2:59.98 which makes Peddie school the third school in the history of US high school swimming to go under 3 minutes in the 4x100 relay. The other schools are Bolles of Florida and New Trier of Illinois.
This was Runako 's first US High School championship meet. He also placed 2nd in 50 yard free and 5th in the 100 yard free. He was on the 4x50 relay team that placed first.
The meet also saw Germantown Academy swim the fastest girls 4x 100 yard relay in US high schools swimming history.
Easterns (Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships) is one of the most prestigious and competitive high school meets in the USA.
Closer to home in Barbados, Jyasi Daniel  was the lone St Lucian, representing the Sharks Swim club at the recently held Barbados Long Course Nationals Swim Meet.
He swam against swimmers from Barbados, Grenada and Saint Vincent, all trying to make their National Teams for this years CARIFTA games.
Jyasi picked up two bronze in 50M Fly and 200 M IM, 4th in 100M Free, 100M Breast, 50M Back and 50M Breast, and 5th in 50 M Free.
Jyasi also participated in last weekends Open Water swim meet at Pigeon Island in St Lucia, placing 1st in the 3000m race
