Seven FAST swimmers competed in Southern California's 2013 All-Star Festival at East Los Angeles College. This was an all-time high for FAST. Highlights for our swimmers were three lifetime best times and seven individual top eight finishes!
Doug Johnson turned in best times in the 50 Freestyle (26.74) and 500 Freestyle (5:24.74), finishing in seventh and sixth place, respectively. Sidney Kao swam a lifetime best in the 200 IM (2:07.10) scoring points for the Green Team with his 4th place finish. Makena Ditsworth scored in the 50 Butterfly (2nd), 200 Freestyle (3rd), and 100 Freestyle (4th). She was also a member of the Blue Team's 200 Medley Relay Meet Record (2:05.25) which won the event. Courtney Tseng finished third in the 500 Freestyle, scoring six points for the Green Team and swimming just one second slower than her lifetime best from JOs. She also scored in the 50 Freestyle (10th place) and contributed to two Green Team fifth place finishes in the 13-14 Girls Relay events.
Lilly Mazzi helped the Green Team to two seventh place finishes for the 8-10 Girls in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay. Ethan Keung helped the Red Team to two sixth place finishes in the Boys 8-10 relays. Leah Johnson helped the Yellow Team to a 7th place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay and 8th place in the 200 Medley Relay. The Yellow Team, led by FAST Coach Lauren Yee, was the first place team overall at the end of the festival.
