GOAL finishes a strong D1 Championship Meet!

This past weekend at UNO, GOAL showed up in force with a ton of team spirit once again, earning a runner-up finish at the 2013 Midwestern Swimming Short Course Championships.  Scoring 2769 points, GOAL was just 179.5 points behind Lincoln Select Swimming and we appear to be closing the gap!  In the 2012 short course meet, GOAL trailed LSS by 1061 points, and in last summer's meet we trailed LSS by 499 points.  GOAL performed very well across the board, but the relays were where we particularly excelled.  In the 28 relays in the meet, GOAL swam to 11 1st place finishes, 8 2nd places, 4 thirds, 3 fourths, 1 fifth, and 1 sixth.

In what was possibly the most promising aspect of the meet, the entire team came out in great support of each other.  There were many team spirit signs made and waved throughout the meet, and during the finals sessions especially, GOAL swimmers packed the turning ends of the pools behind the lanes where a GOAL swimmer was swimming their event.  The great team support undoubtedly helped the GOAL swimmers to some good improvements from their seeded places.

It was a very fun meet, thanks to all who came out and swam and cheered!
