Day 2 Prelims

 

Friday prelims started off with the 200 Medley relay where our 13-14 girls (Hannah Deschenes, Tessa Oakes, Kayla Metivier & Margee Kolozsvary) placed 19th in 2:03.60.  In the 15-19 age group our girls relay (Marissa Patterson, Sophie Kenny, Alexis Wilsuz, Corinne Noonan) placed 10th in 1:51.41.  On the boy’s side, the team of Kellen Gray, Sam Hodgman, Zach Bishop and CJ Patterson set a new team record and placed 4th overall in 1:38.33.

Today’s individual events were the 100 breast, 200 free, 100 Fly, 400 IM.  In the 100 Breast we have three swimmers coming back for finals: Sophie Kenny (1:09.28 – 15th), Sam Hodgman (1:02.95 – 15th) and Patrick Carignan (1:02.27 – 10th).  All three will be chasing sectional cut times this evening at finals (1:08.29 & 1:02.19). 

In the 200 Free, CJ Patterson led the way by re-breaking the record he sat last night in 1:43.03 (2nd going into finals), Zach Bishop followed with a 1:46.58 (5th going into finals).  James Mundy swam a 1:51.75 and Sophie Kenny swam 2:01.93.

Marissa Patterson posted a 59.40 in the 100 fly to qualify 11th for tonight’s final.  On the boys side Sam Hodgman dropped .75 to finish 30th in 56.01.  Patrick Carignan dropped .60 and finished 29th with a 55.63.  Zach Bishop qualified for finals in 17th place at 54.34, Kellen Gray picked up a sectional cut on his way to qualifying 13th in 53.84 and CJ Patterson qualified 11th in 53.05 (just .04 off the EST record).

Zach Bishop was the only EST swimmer in the 400 IM, but he made it count.  He qualified for sectionals, broke the EST record and placed 7th with a 4:14.16.

 

Tonight’s finals begin at 5:30 and will also include our 400 Freestyle relays.
