Ukiah Dolphins compete at San Ramon meet
Four Ukiah Dolphin swimmers qualified for, and swam at the Pacific Swimming Junior Olympic meet in San Ramon. Danny Selzer swam near his best times in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events with times of 24.58 in the 50 and 54.56 in the 100. He is preparing to swim at the Far Western Meet in one month.
Shelby Cleland also swam excellent times in her 100 and 500 yard freestlye races. Her 100 was a 59.23 and her 500 was a 5:34.20. Shelby is swimming on the high school team and is preparing for the league championship meet and the NCS meet for which she is qualified in the 500 so far.
Jillian Clark swam a strong 200 breaststroke race in a time of 2:48.79. Jill is currently swimming in her senior year at Ukiah High and is preparing to swim at the NBL meet and at Far Westerns.
Marcus Ramirez swam four events at the meet. He swam a 23.88 in the 50 free, an 53.01 in the 100 free and a 5:11.02 in the 500 free. In the 100 fly he swam a 57.56 in trials to qualify as an alternate in consolation finals, (17th place). He found out a little more than a minute before the race that he could actually swim. He won the consolation heat in 54.46, which is a Ukiah Dolphin team record. The results of the two finals were merged and he ended up in fourth place overall.
The Ukiah dolphins is a year-round competitive
swimming team open to swimmers of all ages. They practice at the
Ukiah High School Swimming Pool currently from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45
p.m. weekdays, except when there are home high school swim meets.
New members are always welcome.
